The Distinguished Service Award
This award, the highest the RAA bestows, was created in 1967 by the RAA Board of Trustees to recognize distinguished service by alumni or friends to Rensselaer, to a profession, to the nation or to humanity.
The criterion for this award is a continuous record of distinguished service in a chosen field of endeavor that is related to the objectives and purposes of Rensselaer.
Nominations may be made by any member of the Rensselaer Community and should contain a justification for the award. Recipients will be chosen by a committee of the RAA and approved by the RAA Executive Committee and the President of the Institute.
The Distinguished Service Award is a citation and medal, which are presented to the recipient by the President of the Institute, assisted by the President of the RAA. The presentation is made at the Annual Meeting of the RAA, or at a function determined by the RAA Board of Trustees. One award is presented each year and will not generally be presented posthumously, unless under unusual circumstances.
