Why Does Rensselaer Need Your Support?
Alumni participation influences our rankings in U.S.News and World Report. Our overall alumni participation rate was just 24 percent last year, far behind our peer institutions like Rice, Duke, and Dartmouth. By participating today, you will have a positive effect on our rankings while influencing the value of your degree. Click here to learn more about our recent rankings, and how Rensselaer was named one of the 25 “New Ivies!”
Your participation matters! Rensselaer needs your support at any level—$10, $25, $50—every gift counts.
Current students need you! Loans are a part of life, but you can help current students reduce their debt by giving today. Your gift will support student scholarships and help students succeed in and out of the classroom.
Your gift counts toward Renaissance at Rensselaer: The Campaign for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and, if you’re celebrating your Reunion, your class gift total.
Remember, gifts to the Rensselaer Annual Fund help to support areas of the school that recent graduates care about, like athletics, student programs and activities, scholarships, and more!

What is the Rensselaer Young Alumni Council?
The Rensselaer Young Alumni Council (YAC) was founded in 2006 to enhance the relationship between young alumni and the Institute. The Young Alumni Council is comprised of alumni who have graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the past 10 years. |
Membership in the council is voluntary, and its purpose is both social and philanthropic. The objectives of the council are to increase attendance and participation in Institute and alumni events, regional events, and class Reunions. In addition, the Council aims to increase the number of young alumni events to foster networking. The Council also focuses on growing the level of participation in annual giving by young alumni.
The success of the Council depends largely on the leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication of the Council's members. These volunteers generate initiatives and activities, which the Office of Alumni Relations and the Annual Fund staff work diligently to implement.
What is the Purpose of the Young Alumni Council?
The Rensselaer Young Alumni Council was formed to concentrate on three major goals; increase attendance at existing events, increase participation in annual giving, and assist the office of Alumni Relations in planning young alumni events.
Getting Involved
The Young Alumni Council membership allows you to become more involved with your alma mater and to network with other young alumni. You will have the chance to participate in many alumni events as well as in the creation and execution of new young alumni programs. Becoming a member of the council requires a substantial time commitment each year but is rewarding in its own right. Click here to learn more about becoming a Young Alumni Council Member.
Another way to become involved with the Young Alumni Council is by volunteering to participate in our committees’ initiatives. The three major committees focus on planning events, recruiting new members for the Council, and increasing young alumni involvement in donation initiatives. If you’d like volunteer to help with these goals or have special skills you believe will benefit the Council in another way, please click here.
