REUNION CLASS GIFT COMPETITION UPDATE (5-5-08) (PDF)
The class of ’68 is leading in the “greatest Increase in Donors” category.

RPI represents a special time in ours lives. Who can forget our freshman year - Dr. Wunderlich and his suggestion in a freshman chemistry lecture to go home over the winter vacation and memorize the phone book? And the years that followed - especially our senior year, who can forget life at RPI? In spite of the academic pressures, those were great times! Our RPI education left us with life long friends and started us on the path to challenging careers and fulfilling lives. Certainly now is a special opportunity to show our appreciation to Rensselaer and to help those generations of students who follow in our footsteps.

In remembrance of our 40th Reunion, the Class of 1968 is asking for your support today! We have set our class gift goal as a “Participation Goal” this year. The Gift committee is looking for 40% of the class to contribute before June of this year. Three of our classmates; Paula Simon, Jerry Sweeney and Jesse Treu have “Challenged” the rest of us through a challenge fund. Click here (PDF) to see a copy of the letter that was mailed in January.

One-time cash gifts or multi-year pledges of cash gifts will be directed to the Rensselaer Annual Fund. A downloadable pledge form and a secure online gift form can be found through the link: http://www.rpi.edu/campaign/cash_gifts.html or simply click here for the downloadable pledge form (PDF) and/or secure online gift form.

The secure online gift form accepts Visa or Master Card.

Be sure to designate that your gift is for the Class of ’68 - 40th Reunion Class Gift.
Alumni for whom corporate matching is possible are encouraged to seek additional funds from that source. They also count toward the class gift total.

Multi-year pledges are a great way to multiply the impact of your class gift for our 40th Reunion. Multi-year gifts made through a multi-year pledge are all counted toward the class gift for the 40th Reunion as long as one of those gifts occurs in the reunion year. A multi –year pledge form (PDF) can be obtained by clicking here.
For those who have already made a contribution
Thank you very much!!

Did you know that:

1. 45% of the cost of each and every student attending RPI is supported by the Annual Fund and Class Gift through scholarships, professor’s salaries, building costs, support of athletic programs etc.?

2. Part of the rating of colleges and universities in the annual US News and World Report and other magazines takes into account the % of alumni participating in financial support of the school through class gifts and annual fund campaigns? Just by participating in the Class Gift we can help improve the rating of Rensselaer in these annual ratings.

The target is to have everyone participate at a level with which they feel comfortable. Click here to see the current Gift (PDF) status and how we stack up to the other classes so far this year.

While the Rensselaer Annual Fund is the primary vehicle for supporting our class gift, there are four other ways to contribute in addition to making an outright gift of cash!

1. Support Rensselaer in your will,
2. Make Rensselaer a beneficiary of a retirement account.
3. Make a life income gift to the Institute.
4. You can give publicly or privately owned stock, real estate, partnership interests, and other non-cash assets.
