Steve Jones recently joined Sears Home Services as a Program Manager. He previously spent three years working in the nuclear utility industry after retiring from the Navy while serving on the admiral's staff in Kings Bay, Georgia. Steve served on four subs, ran the nuclear repair facility in Groton, CT, spent a tour with Naval Intelligence in Washington, DC (and still thinks "Naval Intelligence" is an oxymoron). He resides in Byron, IL. Star Ault joined GarterConsulting in Stamford, CT looking for new adventures. Robert Barghaus has rejoined the firm that co-founded, The Bev-Edge Group, LLC as a Principal. He resides in Danbury, CT.
In a few months our class will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our graduation. Friday night is our "Welcome Back" gathering 'upstairs' at Holmes & Watson's in downtown Troy. Saturday, Carl Westerdahl - yes, the one-and-only "Mean Dean", will be our Dinner Speaker and Jim Flaherty - who "left us rolling in the aisles at our 20th Reunion, will be the "warm-up band". The Saturday evening dinner will be held at the Sage Dining Hall. The Desmond Americana hotel (near the Albany airport) will be our "headquarters" for off-campus housing. Those staying on campus will be clustered by class in the new dorm, Barton Hall - you have to see this dorm - it's beautiful. Larry McElroy is the director, business development for Performigence Corporation located in Los Angeles. Frank Limouze is manager at ViewSeis Partners, LLC a unique seismic data sales company he founded. He lives with his wife, Janet, in Lafeyette, LA. Bryan Goddard is medical director of IT at United Health Services in Johnson City, NY. Edward Rockwood is staff physician, Department of Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He lives with his four daughters in Shaker Heights, OH. Patricia Henking is vicar at Faith Episcopal Church and a faculty member at Notre Dame College located in Merrimack, NH. Don Maring is senior engineer at Frontier Telephone of Rochester, NY. Ken Hindersinn is airline pilot/captain with AirTran Airways. He resides with his two daughters in Colchester, VT. Richard Place is chief engineer at Microwave Data Systems in Rochester, NY. He lives with his wife, Shirley, and four children in Canandaigua, NY. Brian Weiner founded Marlboro Gastroontorology PC and lives with his three big boys and wife, Sarah, in Morganville, NJ. I was unable to attend the reunion this year, but was able to receive some updated information from those who attended. Brandon Clark is living in Canton, CT with his wife Susan. Richard Corson is a physician with the Middlebrook Family Practice in Bound Brook, NJ. His son Seth will join the class of 2005. Stephen Derby has served as an elder of his church while continuing at RPI as an Associate Professor. Gary Enders is a physician with Corning Emergency Physicians Associates in Corning, NY. He has participated in a number of medical mission trips to Haiti, Jamaica, and Russia. Paul Feigenbaum is living happily on Long Island as a financial services executive for MetLife Financial Services. Robert Goldsmith manages the Assessment Services for Wilson Learning Worldwide in Longwood, FL where he resides with his family of seven children. Thomas Hennessey is a shipbuilding engineering program manager for Bath Iron Works (division of General Dynamics) in Bath, ME. Dave Hill is vp sales for Morris Controls in Bristol, CT. He has been very active in Habitat for Humanity including serving on their board and working alongside President Jimmy Carter in Mexico. Jonathan Larkin is director of sales and marketing for Hospitality Lighting Management in Jackson, MS. As his e-mail address would suggest, he has had a long career in the lighting industry. Robert Douglas has kept the doors open as president of his construction management company, The Douglas Group, Inc. He is recently married to Marquet York and lives in Franklin, MA. Michael Fox is staff engineer for Sun Microsystems. He and wife Tracy live in Bedford, MA. Bill Fredericks is an airline pilot for US Airways, Inc. He flies out of Logan International, but calls Marion, MA home with his wife Annemarie and children Bill and Kate. Thomas Fung is director of operations for Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ. His son, Joshua, graduated valedictorian of his high school class this year and won the Rensselaer medal. Larry Gabuzda is technical manager at Lucent Technology. He recently published his second book, Converged Networks and Services. Larry, wife Aida, and children Nicholas and Danielle live in Westfield, NJ. Chuck Gremke is program manager at Eastman Kodak. He resides in Rochester, NY with wife Jane and children CJ, Jenny, and Danny. Michael Gromek is manager strategic planning at Lockheed Martin Radar Systems. He lives with wife Carol and daughters Allison and Amy in Liverpool, NY. Donna Grossman is design engineering manager at Hamilton Sundstrand in Windsor Locks, CT. She reflects proudly on her time on-board the Shuttle Atlantis as part of her job of designing the new shuttle toilet! Donna also found it a bit weird taking her son, Adam, to freshman orientation at RPI. Dan Kahn is senior consultant at Energy Systems Solutions, Inc. He lives with wife Connie in Easley, SC. Robert Mason is architect/director at BCA/The Healthcare Company in Houston, TX. Gordon Schnaper is quality and training manager at GMP/Genetics, Inc in Waltham, MA. He was a three-day undefeated champion on the Wheel of Fortune. Gordon, wife Gayle, and children Jeremy and Mikaela reside in Tewksbury, MA. Joel Starkman is director of S/390 division at Information Builders. Joel lives in Bridgewater, NJ with wife Eileen. Len Trombetta is associate professor at the University of Houston. He resides in Houston, TX with children Tyler and Anna and wife Gwen. Wilbur Utermohlen is CICS systems programmer at US Bank in Milwaukee, WI. He has been successful at staying single and lives in New Berlin, WI.
I have received e-mail updates from some classmates: Rune Dyvik is working for the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute in Spydeberg, Norway and Mehdi Sanjaghi is President of the American iExpo in E Dennis, MA. Kevin Nicholas is missionary-in-residence at Loudonville Community Church in Dallas, TX. He is part of a team whose task is to translate the Bible and produce reading materials for people in the Republic of the Philippines. Kevin is a computer consultant with Wycliffe Bible Translators based in Orlando, FL. He planned to return this fall for the third time to the Philippines. Speaking of positions-in-residence I am entrepreneur-in-residence at the Clemson University Spiro Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (the academic world likes those long names). I assist business ventures through their start-up and growth phases and teach graduate courses in entrepreneurship. I will also be profiled in the 2002 edition of Whos Who in America.
