Dear Classmates,
We know it's hard to believe, but it's been 30 years since we all left campus with our BS in hand. It's time to gather again in Troy to celebrate our fellowship. At our 25th reunion in 2002, about 100 classmates showed up, many of whom partied well into the early morning, with another couple hundred replying to various emails and letters expressing remembrances and other kind remarks. We'd like to top that this coming June. To that end, RPI is providing more of a family atmosphere at this upcoming reunion, featuring events for alumni, their spouses and their children. The class dinners will all be held on campus this year, as will various parties and social gatherings. We've selected some "official class lodging options" that we hope will meet everyone's needs. We might have some kind of social gathering on the Friday before the reunion and a breakfast on Sunday morning; there's a Hawaiian luau planned for Friday as well. More on all of this will follow in future site updates and emails.
Many of you probably know about changes to the campus over the years; some of you do not. Since we graduated, RPI has added numerous buildings (at least 8 by our count) and renovated virtually all of the others, giving the campus a different look and appeal than when we went there. The teaching philosophy has changed dramatically—no more F-tests, no huge lectures filled with students, and, overall, the campus technology is impressive. If for no other reason, getting back for a tour of the changes (and progress) since we've been there is worth the effort.
The committee is looking for any classmates who were part of a "cluster group" while on campus—a club, fraternity, committee, sports team, and so on—who would be willing to contact others in that cluster to garner some interest in returning for the reunion. If you are interested and willing to participate, please contact Paul Buckley and he'll pass the word along.
In the coming weeks, we'll be adding to this Website as we have more information to share, so be sure to bookmark it and come back frequently. Among other features, we'll be posting the many photos we have from past Reunions and creating "Then & Now" pages for everyone who is eager to show us how much more mature they really are than is evidenced by their Transit photo. If you're game, let one of us know and we'll scan your "Then" photo from the yearbook. Please contact Ilsa Bohn for instructions on how to provide your "Now" photo(s).
If you could, please forward this page's URL (http://www.alumni.rpi.edu/services/class/1977/) and any emails you receive from us to as many classmates as you can; that effort would be greatly appreciated.
Your Reunion Committee,
