Class of
1986

20th Reunion - June 8th through June 11th 2006.

This may be the biggest shock since May 1986, but it's really been 20 years since we lifted our red "Let's Go Crazy" mugs during Senior Week. We also made it to the Field House in time to hear Gary Trudeau warn us about "throwing the bathwater out with the baby." No matter what you've been up to since then, the 2006 Reunion in general, and the 20th Reunion of the Class of 1986, will be memorable!

We've already got a few folks working with the Alumni Office to plan and coordinate events, and we'll be listing more of them soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions or thoughts (or embarrassing photos), just send an email to any of the following:

John Cerveny
Brian Miller
Gordon Goldberg
Geoffrey M. Seber (our Alumni Relations contact)

Here's what we know so far:

  • The official "Class Dinner" will be from 7-9 PM on Saturday, June 10th in the Rensselaer Union - Patroon Room. We don't know the cost yet, but have been assured that it should be less expensive than in years past.
  • "Class Get-Together" periods are happening on Friday (4-6 PM) and Saturday (2-4 PM) which offer less formal ways to get together.
  • We're planning a post-dinner party at The Ruck (formerly Sutters) on 3rd Street in Troy, which will include a performance by Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets, a band with many ties to the Class of 1986. (bands set up in the front by the dart boards, in case you're wondering).
  • The Alumni Office will be doing a mass mailing in March, and you will be contacted via email, phone, etc., at other points along the way. If you've ever thought about coming back for reunion, this will be the time!
  • On-campus accomodations may be available at Davison or Nugent Hall. For hotels, we're recommending the Best Western down at the bottom of the (rennovated!) Approach.
  • LOST ALUMNI! - Help us find them before Reunion 2006!

If anything at all, RPI has taught me ...

Self discipline.
That sleep is not an essential part of life.
How to survive many minor disasters and still laugh.
How to fit an entire semester's work on one crib sheet.
How important friends are.
