
The New York State Museum is located less than 10 miles from Troy in downtown Albany. The New York State Museum is a major research and educational institution. It is dedicated to promoting inquiry and advancing knowledge in the fields of geology, biology, anthropology, and history, through the investigation of material evidence germane to New York State's past, present and future. The Rensselaer Junior Museum is located in Troy across from the Approach. (Can you get any closer??) It is mainly geared to ages 4-12, but even toddlers and adults will find a lot of fun here. The Great Escape is located in Queensbury, NY. It is a quick hour drive north on I-87. As a subsidiary of the Six Flags group, it offers plenty of rides/attractions for all ages. They even have a water park! For more information, see http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatescape/index.asp
Hoffman’s Playland is located in Latham, NY- approximately 20 minutes from Troy. The address is 626 New Loudon Road. Phone number – 518-785-3842. Its claim to fame is the little choo-choo that rides around the 6-acre park. Great rides for kids under 10. A cute arcade and an ice cream cone will end your day nicely. Hoffman’s Miniature Golf is located right beside the Playland. The number there is 518-785-9891.
Jillian’s is located in downtown Albany at 59 North Pearl Street. It’s one of those eat, drink and play cool video games. You can check them out at http://www.jillians.com/club_detail.asp?club_id=33. This is one of those places, like Great Escape, or even miniature golf, where you and your spouse can break away with some classmates for a good time. Kids over 5 will enjoy this place too.
